Position Title: Child & Maternal Health - AHW/AHP  EN/RN
Location: Halls Creek - Yura Yungi Aboriginal Medical Service 
Business Unit: Clinical Operations
Employment Type: 1x Fulltime

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for providing high level Primary Health Care in Midwifery and Child Health. This includes providing antenatal and post natal care to women with significant risk, in coordination with existing service providers in the Kimberley. The role extends to collaboration with service providers, stakeholders and families to provide culturally appropriate education sessions about caring for babies and children from birth through to 5 years. This includes finding culturally acceptable and innovative ways to improve access and health outcomes for this population within the Yura Yungi Clinics service areas.

The Child and Maternal Health Nurse is a key member of the Yura Yungi Clinical and Programs Teams comprising Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff. The role is performed within a community affected by multiple layers of trauma and intergenerational trauma and requires an understanding of strategies designed to increase social and emotional wellbeing, in individuals and the family.

These teams are responsible to work together with the Aboriginal Community Controlled Board to achieve the goals and objectives of the Yura Yungi Medical Service including any adopted Healing Strategy being planned by the community The Position will be located at Yura Yungi Medical Service Clinic in Halls Creek but will visit Kundat Djaru (Ringers Soak) Clinic by light aircraft and sometimes by 4WD vehicle
