Position Overview
The Health Promotions, Communications and Events Manager is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion, communications, marketing, media, community engagement, and events across Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (YYMS) and Yura Yungi Menkawum Ngurra Elders Residence (YYMNER). The position strengthens community health literacy, promotes preventative health programs, enhances organisational reputation, and supports meaningful engagement with Aboriginal communities, Elders, Traditional Owners, stakeholders, funding bodies, and partner organisations. The role provides organisational leadership for all communications, branding, digital media, public relations, and community engagement activities while ensuring culturally safe and community-informed approaches.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of Health Promotions, Communications and Events, complemented by strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Degree or Diploma in Health Promotion, Public Health, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Community Development, Event Management or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, health promotion, community engagement and event management.
- Previous experience leading organisational communication strategies and public awareness campaigns.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and applying culturally safe practices.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, project coordination and budget management.
Salary & Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $130,000 to $135,000, depending on qualifications. Additional benefits include annual airfare, salary packaging options up to $30,000 per annum, and generous leave benefits.
