Preparations for the Christmas period continued throughout December, with a strong focus on creating meaningful and inclusive celebrations for our residents. Christmas gifts were purchased for all residents, and festive Christmas shirts were organised to encourage participation and enjoyment during the season’s activities.

Renovation works also continued across the facility. The male and female wings have now been completed, with upgrades progressing to the offices and kitchen areas. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for residents.

As part of the festive celebrations, four residents were accompanied to Jungarni Jutiya for a special photo opportunity with Santa. Residents enjoyed observing children interact and engage in conversation, with many smiling and clearly expressing happiness throughout the visit.

On Wednesday, 17 December, residents and their relatives came together to enjoy a Christmas lunch. Fr. Ronaldo celebrated Mass and offered Holy Communion to both residents and staff. The meal was warmly received, followed by a lively trivia game and karaoke performances by staff, which brought laughter and joy to the afternoon.

On Christmas Eve, Fr. Ronaldo visited the facility to officiate Christmas Mass for residents and staff. This provided a meaningful opportunity for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal as the community gathered to celebrate the Christmas season.

On Christmas Day, residents spent time together in the common areas, surrounded by festive decorations and the familiar melodies of Christmas carols, adding warmth and meaning to the celebration.

During December, we were also pleased to welcome several new staff members to the Menkawum Ngurra Elder's Residence team. We look forward to their valuable contributions and continued support within the facility.

From everyone at Menkawum Elders Residence, we wish our residents and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
