This year, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week under the national theme for 2025: “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” This theme honours the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, acknowledges the wisdom and leadership of our Elders, and looks ahead to the future shaped by the next generation.
Our celebration brought together elders, residents, staff, families, and members of the wider community for a meaningful and uplifting day. We opened with a moving smoking ceremony led by respected Elder Nora Maggie, grounding us in culture and offering a moment to honour Country and our ancestors. The atmosphere continued to build with warmth and connection as musician Rhys Bedford shared live music that brought joy and unity to all who attended. A shared lunch, lovingly prepared by our kitchen team, encouraged everyone to sit together, enjoy good food, and share conversation and laughter.
As we reflect on NAIDOC Week 2025, we acknowledge the importance of celebrating culture, honouring legacy, and supporting the next generation who will carry our stories forward. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us, contributed, or supported the day.
We look forward to continuing to celebrate culture, community, and connection for many years to come.
