Georgina Yeeda

Practice Manager

I started my health worker training in 2004 and graduated in 2006. After graduating, I was employed at Yura Yungi AMS. Since then, I have completed my Advanced Diploma in Primary Health.

Throughout my years as an Aboriginal Health Worker, I have worked across various programs, including Chronic Disease, Child and Maternal Health, Sexual Health, Rheumatic Heart Disease, and general clinical duties with clients. Over the years, I have also worked in the Ringer Soak community alongside many Remote Area Nurses, spending two weeks at a time out there. This has been an amazing journey and an experience that will stay with me for a long time.

I have also been the Team Leader/Coordinator for the Social and Emotional Wellbeing team. I later went on to register as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner. Through my scope of practice, I have developed extensive knowledge and gained the trust and respect of the community.

My previous role as Clinic Coordinator was a valuable experience that allowed me to grow further in my clinical practice. During my journey as a Senior Aboriginal Health Worker Practitioner, I have had the privilege of mentoring and preceptoring several young Aboriginal trainee health workers—two of whom went on to become registered nurses, and another who is currently studying to become a nurse, and of whom I am very proud.

I have worked with many doctors and nurses and have learnt so much from them, especially during my time with the Remote Area Nurses at the Ringer Soak community clinic.

I am now in the role of Clinic Practice Manager. This role is challenging but, above all, rewarding. I really appreciate the support I receive from my management and the staff at Yura Yungi AMS.

My journey has been a blessing, and I love working for my people and looking after their health.
