Strengthening Social & Emotional Wellbeing in Our Community

Published on Friday, 6 March 2026 at 8:21:43 AM

During the first two months of 2026, our Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Team continued to deliver a range of programs and support services focused on strengthening connection, resilience, and wellbeing across our community.

From January to February, the team facilitated 26 community-based activities, creating safe and culturally supportive spaces where people could come together to connect, share experiences, and support one another.

Supporting Connection and Healing

A key focus of the SEWB program is providing culturally appropriate spaces that support healing, learning, and community connection. Over this period, the team delivered:

  • 7 weekly Men’s Group sessions, providing a supportive space for yarns, connection, and wellbeing discussions.

  • 8 Women’s Circle sessions, creating opportunities for women to come together, share stories, and strengthen community support.

  • 7 Mums & Bubs sessions, supporting young mothers through connection, learning, and early childhood wellbeing.

  • 4 Bush Trips on Country, offering participants the opportunity to reconnect with culture, land, and traditional knowledge in a safe and supportive environment.

These activities play an important role in strengthening social and emotional wellbeing, promoting cultural connection, and building supportive community networks.

Building Skills and Opportunities

Alongside community programs, the SEWB team also supported a number of education and workforce development opportunities during this period.

  • Two young people were supported to enroll in a Civil Construction Course, creating new pathways into employment and skills development.

  • Two staff members enrolled in a Certificate IV in Mental Health, strengthening the capacity of our workforce to support community members.

  • Two staff attended the Family Safety Summit in Perth, gaining valuable knowledge and insights to strengthen local responses to family safety and wellbeing.

Supporting Community Through Referrals

During January and February, the SEWB team received and responded to 120 referrals, providing tailored support to individuals and families seeking assistance.

This ongoing work highlights the importance of accessible, culturally safe services that respond to the needs of our community and provide early intervention and ongoing support where it is needed most.

Continuing the Work Together

These outcomes reflect our continued commitment to community empowerment, culturally responsive care, and strengthening social and emotional wellbeing across the region.

We would like to acknowledge the strong engagement from community members who continue to participate in these programs, and the dedication of our SEWB team who work tirelessly to support the health and wellbeing of our people.
