Men's Health Week 2026: Strong Men, Strong Families, Strong Communities

This week, Yura Yungi Medical Service is proud to recognise Men's Health Week, an annual campaign that encourages men and boys to prioritise their health and wellbeing.

Celebrated across Australia and around the world, Men's Health Week aims to raise awareness of the health challenges faced by men and boys while promoting healthier lifestyles, early intervention, and stronger connections to health services. This year's Australian theme, "See a GP," encourages men to seek professional support when something doesn't feel right with their physical, mental, or emotional wellbeing.

While many people think of health as simply being free from illness, good health is much broader than that. It includes physical health, mental wellbeing, social connections, cultural identity, and emotional resilience. Men's Health Week provides an opportunity to start important conversations about all aspects of wellbeing and encourage men to take proactive steps towards a healthier future.

At Yura Yungi, we understand that strong communities are built on strong families, and strong families are supported by healthy men. Whether it's attending regular health checks, staying active, connecting with family and community, participating in cultural activities, or simply having a yarn with someone you trust, every positive step towards better health matters.

Research consistently shows that men are less likely to seek help early and often delay addressing health concerns. Men's Health Week is a reminder that seeking support is not a sign of weakness, it is one of the strongest things a person can do. Early detection and treatment can make a significant difference in improving health outcomes and quality of life.

Throughout the week, Yura Yungi will be highlighting the importance of holistic wellbeing and encouraging men to take time to focus on their health. Community members are invited to participate in our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Men's Group and other activities planned throughout the week.

We encourage all men in our community to:

  • Book a health check with their GP.
  • Check in with their mental and emotional wellbeing.
  • Stay connected with family, friends, and community.
  • Participate in activities that support physical and cultural wellbeing.
  • Reach out for support when needed.

Men's Health Week is about more than raising awareness. It is about creating positive change, breaking down barriers to help-seeking, and ensuring that men feel supported to live healthy, connected, and fulfilling lives.

Together, we can build stronger men, stronger families, and stronger communities.
